Paddles

What makes the ideal paddle? A paddle that is perfectly responsive, light to the touch, a paddle your fingers float over and become as one. A perfect paddle is one that the operator forgets as his/her thoughts reach out, flawlessly and smoothly translated into perfect CW. A paddle with definitive yet subtle tactile feedback, friction free return, and perfect closure on every dot and dash.

Bencher offers four different paddles to suit every operator's need and preference.

The world famous BY series of iambic paddle are the standard that other iambic paddles are measured against, and unfortunately is the paddle most copied by others though with much lower quality and performance.

We have sold well over 100,000 of these paddles, surely far and away the most popular iambic paddle ever. We also offer a variation of the BY series, the ST series, for those operators who prefer a single lever paddle. But if you are new to paddles and electronic keyers, we strongly urge you to start right out with an iambic paddle.

Bencher also offers two newer designs - the Bencher Hex Paddle and the legendary Mercury Paddle. (The Mercury paddle will be on the web site soon.)

The Hex Paddle

Bencher is manufacturing a new paddle for demanding CW operators – the Bencher Hex Paddle.

This unique design is classic Bencher – attractive to the eye and a perfect match for the fingers of the proficient CW operator. Fully iambic, this innovative design utilizes magnets for tensioning, and unlike some rather expensive European designs, allows separate individual tensioning adjustment for dot and dash contacts.

This paddle is robust! If you are a ham that learned CW using a "bug" you know that it was necessary to be fairly physical with the bug for good CW. But old habits are hard to break. Many operators still tend to slap their paddle around. This is one paddle that will take it and come back for more. Certainly one of the heaviest paddles available, weighing in at well over three pounds, (1.4 kilos) the components throughout are tough and sturdy, built to last. This is one paddle you won’t be chasing around the operating position.

But does this sturdiness mean that the operator must give up the feather light responsiveness and tactile feedback that Bencher paddles are justly famous for? Not at all! The Hex Paddle is truly a magical combination of rugged construction and deft, flawless touch. Solid silver contact points with gold plating assure perfect closure.

Whether you are just learning CW or are at the top of your form, this is the paddle that will take you to the next level.
