The Yaesu MD-100A8X desk mic features a cardioid dynamic mic element. It features UP-DOWN tuning (on compatible Yaesu transceivers). There is a scan switch, a switch for PTT (push to talk) and also a lock feature. The frequency response is 100 to 5000 Hz. Sensitivity is -75dB (0 dB=1 V/0.1 Pascal). Impedance is 500 ohms unbalanced. Weight is 24 ounces (670 grams).

On the bottom of the mic base there is a High Emphasis switch and a Low Cut Switch. The mic cable terminates to an Yaesu 8 pin mic plug. This is a 500 ohm mic. This mic works well with the FT-747, FT-757GXII, FT-840, FT-847, FT-857, FT-890, FT-897, FT-990, FT-1000 and FT-1000MPV. It does not work on some older Yaesu transceivers such as the FT-736R

The Yaesu MD-200A8x is a stylish, high-quality desk microphone designed for the latest generation of Yaesu HF transceivers. The MD-200A8X employs a studio-quality Polyethylene Teraphthalate Film Dynamic Element  optimized for high fidelity SSB operation, allowing faithful reproduction of the operator's voice during operation with negligible distortion.

Yaesu's exclusive VSPC (Variable Side Pressure Control) allows the operator to adjust the frequency response of the microphone, from a totally flat response to a high-articulation response with moderate peaking about 2000 Hz. The VSPC technique provides this response control without the distortion and reduced signal-to-noise ratio that can accompany active "equalizer" circuits.

The MD-200A8X also includes provision for the incorporation of a user-supplied Dynamic, Magnetic or Crystal microphone element, allowing A-B selection of the supplied dynamic element and the custom element. A slide switch on the base of the mic allows easy switching. This mic also has up-down scanning and TX led that are supported by most Yaesu radios.
