DC blocking capacitors are used in a marine install to eliminate stray DC currents that are the source of electrolysis.

Electrolysis can eat away your expensive grounding plate / shoe. More importantly if grounding to a metal hull - electrolysis can eat away at the hull itself with disastrous consequences.

The capcitors are used as follows:

Cut a gap in the copper strip running from your antenna tuner to your grounding plate or keel bolt (for metal hulled vessels). Across the gap solder 6 capacitors. The gap will not effect RF to ground but DC currents will not pass over the gap (ie will be filtered out by the capacitors). Capacitor rating is 50V 1000pf
